Tommy O'Brien
Why do you want a skating club at school?
C: Well, one reason is that having a skating club would motivate me in school-skating refreshes me for my schoolwork.
What gave you the idea to start a skating club?
T: After [junior] John Kaiser started a golf club, Chance and I wanted to make a skating club because skating can be considered in every way a sport. I think we skaters deserve a time and place to skate at school.
By when will the club be active?
C: If all goes well, we hope to start meetings at the beginning of next school year.
Chance Corbeil
Will there be restrictions on club membership?
T: Everyone will be encouraged to join. We will be happy to give lessons for inexperienced skaters.
Can students participate if they do not skate?
T: We are going to incorporate activities like heart rate monitoring after skating and filming a skate video.
How often do you skate?
T: About three hours a day.
C: Three to four hours everyday.
How important is skating to you?
C: It's one of the most important things in my life; I'm in my own world when I skate. It's my way of expressing my emotions.
T: Very important. Skating is just as important to me as football is to a football player.
