With exams around the corner, one of the first questions that come to students’ minds is- Where should we go for our extended lunch? Panera, Chipotle, Wendy’s, Donatos, etc. tend to be the typical answer, and they usually end up jam packed with all of the other students that came up with the same bright idea. If you’re wanting to try something different, and get away from the big crowds, Grand Day Café is a student friendly, nearby restaurant, to go with your friends to have a tasty break time between exams.

Grand Day Café is located on fifth avenue, 5-10 minutes away from the Upper Arlington High School, by car. It is open for only breakfast and lunch hours, Monday-Sunday from 6:30am to 3:00pm. Unlike other restaurants near UAHS, they offer sit-down service, and more importantly, free refills.

While being a convenient location for student use during the lunch periods, their food diversity is prime. They have their menu’s categorized by main ingredients instead of different meal times. They offer a wide variety of average meals, and also more unique meals. When I went there, I had a quesadilla with egg, cheese, sausage, peppers, tomatoes, and it was fantastic. It was different from a normal type of breakfast food and they did not let me down.

Along with location, and tasty meal variety, they are very student friendly. I was addressed with nothing but kindness while I was there. The food is moderately priced, so for a meal and drink for yourself, you’ll probably be spending around what you would at Chipotle. The quiet music, paintings on the walls, and cleanliness, makes the atmosphere quite welcoming and inviting.

Overall, Grand Day Café is a great place to go during lunch. If you have your heart set on something else for, you could even go before school to start your big day of testing off on the right, healthy foot. Or if you don’t have an exam during a certain period, you could go then too. With the convenient location, tasty food, and student friendly service, there isn’t any fault in choosing to eat here. If you get service and food anything like mine, you will not regret your choice of restaurant.
