Halsey Releases debut studio album that tops the Alternative charts

The Newly released album, “BADLANDS (Deluxe)” by Halsey is filled with new alternative/ electro pop sounds and hits that have topped the charts. “BADLANDS (Deluxe)” debuted at number two on the billboard hot 200 and was the second highest debut of the year for a female artist. The first hit single that was released was titled, “Ghost”. The single was released on Oct. 17, 2014 and was then re released with the album on Aug. 28. With its electro pop sound it received positive reviews. The music video garnished over 7 million views on YouTube. The second single released off of the album was the song, “New Americana”. The song was released on July 10th, 2015. “New Americana” debuted at 87 of the billboard hot 100 and 18th on the alternative charts.  The song received mixed reviews, however is was labeled a “generational anthem”. Halsey found influences for the album through movies such as “Blade Runner” and “Fifth Element”. Halsey also used the Album as a metaphor, she has said that “BADLANDS” was an escape from her real life struggles. With the cool alternative beats and electro pop vibes as well as a deep message Halsey’s debut studio album is a guaranteed hit.
