UAHS Students’ work was shown at Ohio State Fair over the summer.
MELIA MARTIN- Senior Melia Martin’s mixed-media piece Still made it into and was displayed in the Ohio State Fair. The artwork is made from pencil and gold-leaf to add an interesting texture and dimension. After Martin had had two pieces accepted into the fair, she had to get her work professionally framed to fit their specific guidelines.
CAROLINE MILO- Senior Caroline Milo’s chalk and charcoal drawing Hotel de Ville Brussels was accepted into the fair. The piece was inspired by the town hall building in Brussels, Belgium, where Milo and her family visited in the winter to watch the light show in the main plaza square of her sophomore year. This piece was originally created for an IB Drawing exam, but due to the sentimental value she believed it would be a good submission for the fair.
KATIE ZHAO- Sophomore Katie Zhao submitted her painting Yellowstone to the fair and was accepted. For this piece, Zhao used acrylic paints on canvas to create an image of a hot spring in Yellowstone National Park. She sent her submission through the Ohio State Fair website, and later received a confirmation email notifying she was accepted.
