The Arlingtonian website at ranked FOURTH nationally at the Journalism Education Association’s fall convention in Chicago over the weekend of Nov. 1-4. Over 6000 journalism students attended, representing over 1000 schools from across the nation.

Arlingtonian Editor in Chief Dylan Carlson Sirvent received an Excellent in a News Writing contest at the convention. Broadcast and yearbook student Ellie Hartranft received an Honorable Mention in a Video Editing contest.

While at the annual convention, staff members attended a variety of workshops on journalism-related topics such as website design, interviewing, reporting, photo journalism, and much more. Former president Barack Obama’s official photographer, Pete Souza, gave the keynote address at the convention’s opening night. The students also saw the Hamilton musical, visited the American Writers’ Museum, and went to the Museum of Broadcast Communication’s exhibit on SNL.
