Chemistry teacher Philip Lampe received the 2019 Golden Apple Award for Upper Arlington High School.
Each year the Upper Arlington Civic Association accepts students’ nominations for teachers or faculty members in each UA school for the award.
“The Golden Apple Award is meant to recognize outstanding staff members at UA schools that make a difference in our children’s lives day to day or even a lifetime impact,” UACA director Susan Aquilio said.
This is the 39th year that the award has been given out.
Nominations include sections for students to give reasoning for their choice, which are read when the award is given out to school faculty along with a cake, balloons, superintendent Paul Imhoff and the UACA Golden Apple Award directors.
Voting ended Feb. 28 and the winners for each school were announced in classes today, March 19.
The recipient of the district’s 2019 Golden Apple Award—selected from the winner of each school for that year—will be announced in August.
