The Upper Arlington crew team returned from the 2019 Indianapolis Junior Sprints and Sculling regatta Sunday night. The team travelled on Saturday to prepare boats and raced in both heats and finals on Sunday.

Many boats prevailed, earning rowers and coxswains medals in the top three spots.

The Womens Lightweight Varsity 4+ coxed by June Postalakis won their event with a time of 7:50, 23 seconds faster than the boat in second place.

“I think UA did really well this past weekend at Indianapolis. A majority of the team medaled which was really good compared to the [previous weekend],” said sophomore Chandler Morin, a rower in the Womens Lightweight 4+. “The only sketchy thing about it was almost running into shore after the race ended.”

Other boats that earned gold were the Womens Novice 8+, Mens Lightweight Varsity 8+, Womens 1st Varsity 8+ and Mens 1st Varsity 4+.

Nine other boats earned medals in either second or third place. Next weekend, on May 11-12, the team will travel to Nashport, Ohio to compete at the Midwest Scholastic Rowing Championship, the qualifier for all boats to compete at Nationals at the end of May.
