In just nine years of business, award-winning Cuco’s Taqueria has made a name for itself in Upper Arlington by providing diners with delicious, fresh and authentic south-of-the-border Mexican food. Located at 2162 Henderson Rd., Cuco’s Taqueria is a family and party friendly restaurant that is open from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Saturday. Cuco’s offers a wide selection of affordable and tasty appetizers, entrees and desserts that will leave customers stuffed for hours.
Walking into the restaurant, the festive blue and green colors covering the walls transform the mood of the joint to a casual, laid back and beachy feel. Complimentary chips and salsa are brought to the table once seated. The homemade salsa brought to the table has a very thin, watery consistency– but is flavourful nonetheless. It is not too spicy, but does have a bit of a kick. If not crazy about the salsa brought to the table, Cuco’s provides customers with multiple options for chip-dipping: free salsas at the salsa bar, and other dips on the menu such as the delicious and fresh guacamole. One salsa to try at the salsa bar is the homemade pico de gallo made with large chunks of tomatoes, seasoned with cilantro and onions. Delicious!
When it comes to ordering the entree, Cuco’s Taqueria has a wide range of options for meat-lovers, vegetarians and even a wide selection for children under 12. At Cuco’s, children under 12 have the option of ordering off the kids menu, which provides options such as chicken strips for children who are not fond of mexican cuisine, and would much rather prefer an ‘American’ option. All kids meals come with a fountain drink, milk or juice and prices for these large portioned kids meals range from $2.50 to $4.00. Vegetarians do not even have to look hard to find a meal to accommodate eating habits, because Cuco’s menu offers a section of purely vegetarian and vegan meals to ensure everyone has a meal they would enjoy.
The burritos come in two sizes the regular size which is large, and the grande size which would leave leftovers to bring back home. Despite its low cost of $3.95, the Vegetarian Burrito is filled with crispy, grilled onions and peppers, cheese, the same flavorful pico de gallo from the salsa bar, sour cream, guacamole, lettuce, black beans and rice, that will leave anyone full for hours! The mixture of the hot grilled vegetables along with the coolness of the lettuce and tangy pico de gallo give the burrito texture and depth like no other on the menu. The California Burrito is another non-pricey item on the menu that is sure to fill anyone. It comes with cheese, rice, beans, lettuce, sour cream, guacamole, pico de gallo and a choice of meat for only $4.25!
And to top off the excellent food choices, the service at Cuco’s is that of a five-star restaurant. Waiters are prompt and informative, and the fact that the waiter knew everything on the menu, and offered suggestions made choosing exactly what to get off the large menu a lot easier. Waiters continually fill up chip bowls and drinks, and genuinely are happy to be serving their customers.
The only down side of Cuco’s Taqueria is the popularity it has gained in the past few years. Before receiving such great reviews from notable magazine companies, Cuco’s was never busy– but although the sudden recognition Cuco’s has not stopped producing great quality food. The busiest hours at Cuco’s is between 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, and the restaurant can get quite noisy.
Perfect for parties, dinner or get togethers, Cuco’s great service along with amazing food proves to be a must try for all people who love mexican food. You have to give this place a try!
