Callia Peterson

Callia Peterson is a junior at UAHS and serves as Co-Digital Editor for Arlingtonian. Callia began student journalism her freshman year at Lawrence High School in Lawrence, Kansas. There, she was a staff writer for The Budget Newspaper and The Red and Black Yearbook. When Callia came to UAHS her sophomore year, she joined Arlingtonian as a staff writer. Thus far, Callia has won awards in news-writing and yearbook-writing from the Kansas Scholastic Press Association, and she has received the highest ranking in news-writing and news-feature writing from the Ohio Scholastic Media Association; she was also on staff during the 2018-2019 school year when The Budget Newspaper won the Pacemaker from the National Scholastic Press Association. Callia is passionate about telling the stories of others and reporting on issues that impact her school and the greater community, and she hopes to continue in these pursuits for years to come. Outside of writing, Callia serves on Ambassadors of Change, and she is a Freshman Mentor and Mentor Leader in the Student Mentors program. When Callia is not at school, she is dancing, spending time with family and friends, and searching for the best coffee spots in Columbus.
